A Membership Association of Ministries with Deaf Young People
DTConnect® Ministry Association is a ministry of God's Hands Agency. Check back for exciting new developments as part of the mission of "specializing in cultivating in Deaf, Family and Church cultures."
Only members may use the name Deaf Teen Connect (DTConnect®) although use of this identity is not a requirement.
DTConnect® Ministry Association membership provides a number of ministry benefits and involves a commitment made by members to ministry excellence.
DTConnect® Ministry Association members agree to:
1) Keep current background checks on all volunteers and staff who are in direct contact with teenagers; oversee adult interactions and contact with young people to optimize their safety.
2) Attend at least one local, regional or national training event on youth and/or deaf ministry each year.
3) Commit to a cultural approach to ministry that welcomes students of any communication preference.
4) Commit to acquiring and using current and effective resources for ministry with Deaf teens.
5) Join the National Network of Youth Ministries (free membership) which provides a connection with general youth ministry resources.
6) Keep association membership current with an annual membership fee and agree to relinquish program identification as a Deaf Teen Connect associated ministry, if membership is canceled or revoked.
Memberships are not currently being accepted until a restructuring of Deaf Teen Connect is complete.
Resources:YFC Deaf Teen Quest
is a part of Youth for Christ/USA Campus Life ministry that is designed specifically to build life-changing relationships with deaf and hard of hearing students. Teams of caring Christian adults enter the world of Deaf teenagers with “fun, friendship, fellowship and faith.” YFC Deaf Teen Quest provides a healthy peer group environment with Christian role models to help Deaf teens develop a mature faith that makes a positive difference in the world.
Deaf Missions is an international Christian mission dedicated to effectively communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ with deaf people. Founded in 1970, it has grown into a mission now serving people in more than 85 countries and 60 different denominational groups. Deaf Missions provides resources, training and outreach for deaf people and their families and friends.
Deaf Teen Connect Ministry Association membership does not imply any liability or direct authority over member ministries by God's Hands Agency. The right to refuse membership to groups determined to be out of compliance with membership requirements remains the exclusive prerogative of God's Hands Agency.
